—-Original Invitation and Proposed Action Tour—-
Dear Friends & Family of the Many Movements & Marches,
I will be on the road through this fall throughout the country and will be planning stops based on community interest and special event schedules.
This tour will begin on the 27th of September following the 18-day water-only fast at FERC in DC.
During these travels, I hope to share the 55-foot community-sourced United States of Fracking banner that has been used in many actions, teach-ins, and discussions throughout the country since it was completed at our DC Stop the #FERCus actions in late May 2015. I want to thank Kim Fraczek for the superb vision and Seth Tobocman for original illustrations that tie our many struggles together in this work of direct action art!
It is time to spread the art and stories and also encourage networking for Rising Tide North America’s #FloodtheSystem organizing platform and the BXE No New Permits Fast at FERC (#BXEFast) — both are offered as events that you can specifically tailor to your causes and there can be multiple levels of participation layers to help build movement capacity and community. Please connect me with other efforts so we can join in the ways that are wanted!
Here is the facebook group that might also help you to see the Banner being used for both teach-ins, actions, and intersectionally-motivated movement-building: https://www.facebook.com/groups/unitedstatesoffrackingbanner/
Since my travel schedule is coming together in a very organic way, I would love to know if there is interest in me stopping through your community to visit and possibly for me to volunteer in some capacity based on your request and consent. I travel to organize and find face-to-face connections to be invaluable. I will also be offering anti-racism guidance and discussion as a Person of Color for those who understand the necessity of this type of everyday direct action dismantling work in our personal spaces and activist circles — especially in environmental-climate issue spaces.
If you know of other friends throughout the country who may be interested in connecting this time around, please let me know and I will do my best. E-mail is best: jimmy.betts@gmail.com

I do not need to believe we will win.
I know it! But we must do it together.

A primer video from “Chicago South East Side Coalition To Ban Petcoke”: Since we started working to stop the toxic avalanche of pet coke, we’ve succeeded to close down two sites. The larger site is being turned into a transfer-point for the waste product. Piles will have to be removed by next summer – unfortunately – the problem will now be on uncovered trains coming through Hegwisch. Waste product will be rumbling through hegwisch and land locking the neighborhood. How are emergency personnel going to cross into the neighborhood when the trains block the entrance into the neighborhood just west of Ave. O. What is the contingency plan if the trains are blocking the streets and there is a fire at one of the schools or the senior housing? Will the fire stations outside of the Hegwisch be able to respond to a crisis in time?
