We are excited to announce the launch of our Frontline Community Support Fund – through which we’re able to make small grants (up to $1000) that support frontline community action to stop fossil fuel infrastructure.
In general, we hope to fund actions that strengthen you or your group’s engagement with the entities you are opposing, like FERC, Spectra, Dominion, etc. That means we’re more likely to support a rally, protest, event, or a civil disobedience training; as opposed to a conference, a legal review, or general operating expenses like staff and rent. We do not reject any application out of hand – tell us what you need and how we can help.
What’s really exciting about the frontline fund is is how it can connect us more closely with frontline groups around the U.S. At our retreat last weekend, members of the BXE community had lots of ideas and drew inspiration from a wide array of fights being waged –from the Gulf Coast of Louisianna, to the #NoDAPL encampment in North Dakota, to the East Coast fights to stop Spectra and Dominion and other companies.
We hope that you’ll join us in inspiration and action by filling out an application and telling us how we can support your next action,
Final decisions on what to fund or not fund, and how, are made by the BXE Fundraising and Budget Committee. That decision is based on the advice of a council of Frontline Advisors — we’re honored to welcome Michael Bagdes Canning, Cherri Foytlin, Johanna deGraffenreid and our own Jimmy Betts as our first four FLCF Advisors. And of course every proposal is considered by the BXE General Meeting – which is open to all – to make sure we honor our commitment to horizontal leadership and the motto “To leave no one behind, we must all lead.”
